There are five criteria that should be met in order to become a patient at Bluewater Methadone Clinic. These include:
1) Opioid use
2) Physical dependence as evidenced by symptoms or signs of opioid withdrawl (which may include: nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, runny nose, sweating, diarrhea, yawning, fever, insomnia)
3) Psychological dependence (which may include: daily use, financial and legal difficulties, inability to discontinue use, neglect of major responsibilities, preoccupation with acquiring drug)
4) Inability to benefit from other non-methadone treatments (e.g. past history of treatment failures, opioid dependence greater than one year, etc.)
5) Agreement to terms and conditions in Bluewater Methadone Clinic's Policies and Procedures for Patients (note Clinic Policies and Procedures on our website)
6) Valid OHIP card
